Information And Communication Technology As An Instructional Media

Information and Communication Technology or ICT is a fundamental element that is inherent in the concept of a development, including education development.  At this time, ICT also as instructional media in teaching activity. With ICT, learning process become fun and interesting, also more effective than conventional instructional media. ICT as an instructional media can as slide using projector, animation, video, audio, internet, etc. Ease of students in getting material can increase students motivation in learning.  Because of that, make students more independent in learning.

Shifting the function of ICT which was originally used to search for information into one of effective instructional media is proved that ICT has positive impact in education development. Now, the internet has provide so many platforms that can be used in learning and teaching process.

The advantages of ICT as an instructional media:
1.      Bread Reach, so that searching for learning material is not limited by time and place.
2.      Can search material and using ICT anywhere and anytime in 7 days per weeks.
3.      Internet access more faster than search manual in a book for example.
4.      Internet provide interactive e learning such as ruang guru, edmodo and etc.
5.      Search learning material in internet more cheaper than buying printed book.

Not without problems, ICT as an instructional media also have problems in development. Faridi (2009) state that there are several problems that is often encountered in development of learning innovation ICT based as follows : (1) availability of internet, electricity,  and other supporting infrastructure. (2) software availability. (3) Effect on existing curriculum. (4) skill and knowlade the teachers. (5) students attitude towards the internet.

Well, from the explanation above, ICT as an instructional media is one of fundamental element in education development  and one of effective instructional media for learning and teaching process with all of advantages. Not without problems, ICT in the future expected to minimize problems.
